I always look forward to this monthly round-up! A few reads I’ve enjoyed recently: Whistler by Ann Patchett, Lake Effect by Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney, and The Reservation by Rebecca Kauffman. Next up is The Keeper by Tana French, and I’m also waiting with bated breath for Colton Whitehead’s Cool Machine—I guess July will be a month for finishing trilogies?
Reading The Heir Apparent per your recommendation and loving it! Finished a couple of Amanda Montell books last month (Cultish, rec from a colleague, and Wordslut, for book club) and enjoyed both. Next up is The Lion Women of Tehran for book club!
I'd like to recommend an important book that I believe contains an impressive analysis of American democracy's current crossroads: “BREAKING THE TWO-PARTY DOOM LOOP, The Case for Multiparty Democracy in America” by Lee Drutman. It offers four very intelligent proposals for course adjustments and corrective action.
The Land and its People & The Raven Scholar were June standouts for me!

Ooooh I keep meaning to read Ann Patchett’s newest. Maybe July!
I’ve had Tropesick on my list for a while, and my library just acquired it! Now I NEED to read it!

Amanda Montell is so so so good. I revisit Cultish a lot.
Let me know what you think of The Lion Women! It's been on my list but I don't think I've been in the right headspace for it lately.
Have you read First-Time Caller yet? I'm loving it!
Yes!! BK Borrison is so good.
I devoured that book last year!
